Representatives of Dąbrowa Górnicza were participating from 7 to 12 of September in the 17th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which was held in Xiamen. They also took part in accompanying events organised in Shanghai and Nanjing by Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai.
The mission was organised as part of the project „Invest in Dąbrowa Górnicza – promotion of the city economic potential – stage 2”, which is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund as a part of the Regional Operational Programme of the Śląskie Voivodeship for 2007-2013. Presentation of our city during CIFIT 2013 was given on the stand of Trade and Investment Promotion Section of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai.
City of Dąbrowa Górnicza presented its investment offer along with such institutions as: Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (Shanghai Office), Ministry of Treasury, Ministry of Economy and Investors Assistance Center of West Pomerania Voivodeship.
At the main focus of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (8-11.09.2013) were direct foreign investments. It is the largest international Fair in China, aiming at enabling better investment cooperation. During four days of seminars, exhibitions and business discussions number of participants reached 15.173 including foreign investors and sales representatives from 118 countries and regions, as well as 556 foreign delegations, representing more than 100 countries and 10 international organisations. CIFIT gathered also many Chinese participants from national agencies, business and academic institutions, provinces, regions and cities. Total number of 40.123 visitors from China participated in CIFIT, of which more than 1400 were from main national enterprises, well known private firms and market listed companies. Besides, 560 VIP guests visited Fair, among them: Marco Hausik, Vice Prime Minister of Namibia; Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary General of the UNCTAD; Rob Davies, Minister of Trade and Industry of South Africa; Rintaro Tamaki, Deputy Secretary General of the OECD; Richard Sezibera, Secretary General of the East African Community; Chiang Hsiao-Jen, a Kuomintang politician; Karin Finkelston i Hua Jingdong, Vice Chaimen of International Finance Corporation of World Bank Group; Abu Nar, Chaiman of World Trade Center Association; Jim Rogers, co-founder of Quantum Fund; Lord Sassoon, Chairman of China-Britain Business Council. Participants could visit 53 national and regional stands, among them: Poland, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Russia, Germany, USA, Japan, Great Britain, India, United Arab Emitrates, Zambia, Austria, South Korea, Namibia and Jordan and thirteen Chinese cities and provinces – Beijing, Kashgar, Xinjiang, Shenzhen and Ganzhou.
The 17th China International Fair for Investment and Trade was opened by Ma Kai, Vice Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China. Opening ceremony was hosted by Wang Chao,Deputy Director of CIFIT Organising Committee and Vice Minister of Ministry of Commerce. The guest of honour this year was Republic of South Africa. In recognition of Fair’s importance major financial institution became sponors of this event – United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), World Trade Organization (WTO), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Association of Investment, Promotion Agencies (WAIPA)
Organisers provided 63 economic forums, among them was International Investment Forum 2013. Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai was hosting a seminar about investment opportunities in Poland entitled „Poland Investment Environment Promotion“. Presentation of Dąbrowa Górnicza „Intensive Growth Area“ emphasised main assets of the city and included an invitation to invest in Tucznawa (a direct investment in Science and Technology Park), and projects of local companies that have prepared a special cooperation offer, dedicated for Chinese investors.
During matchmaking sessions Henryk Zaguła – First Deputy Mayor of Dabrowa Górnicza, presented most important city investments to representatives of Chinese companies and organisations supporting chinese investors.
Investment offer of the city was also a highlight of investment seminar in Shanghai (on 10.09.)and meeting with regional entrepreneurs, investors and government officials in Nanjing (on 11.09.).
There is a great interest among Chinese investors in direct investment in Poland and cooperation with Polish companies.
