Last year was a favorable one for companies present in Polish special economic zones. A proof for that are higher than declared investment expenditures and more granted concessions than in 2012. Katowice Special Economic Zone has left other SEZ’s behind and closed 2013 above expectations.
Katowice Special Economic Zone, which has its Sosnowiec-Dąbrowa Górnicza Subzone in our city, has acquired 29 new projects last year, 4 more than in 2012. Among them are 9 newcomers to the Zone and the remaining twenty projects are reinvestments of companies already functioning in Katowice SEZ. Total cost of new investments is at least PLN 1,5 billion, which is the best result within Polish special economic zones. Among enterprises that grow and have invested in 2013 thanks to support available in Katowice SEZ are also those from Dąbrowa Górnicza – Saint-Gobain Glass Polska, Saint-Gobain Sekurit Hanglas Polska and Ficomirrors Polska. And there are still available attractive investment plots in Dąbrowa Górnicza that await future investors.
This year’s plans include 25 new investment projects. Yet, entrepreneurs who think of moving to the Zone should speed up their activities, because since 1st of July 2014 a new regional aid map 2014-2020 will come in force, reducing the limit of financial support for investment projects, also in Silesian Voivodeship. Currently, the maximum level is 40% of the costs for large companies (250 employees and more), 50% for medium (between 50 and 249 employees), and 60% for small ones (between 10 and 49 employees). In July they all will be lowered by 15%. Rules of granting public aid in Katowice SEZ are highlited in „Investor Guidebook“ attached below. More information is available on official webpage of the Zone, as well as in Sosnowiec-Dąbrowa Górnicza Subzone office.
