“R&D is becoming a strategic area of FDI in Poland”, argued PAIiIZ president Sławomir Majman during the conference presenting the report entitled: “R&D Market in Poland – support for research and development activity of enterprises”. “Promotion of cooperation of all sides in the process of innovations’ development is the basic task of public administration”, argued Grażyna Henclewska, undersecretary in the Ministry of Economy.

PAIiIZ president Sławomir Majman reminded to the audience that R&D projects are listed at the third place in PAIiIZ portfolio. They total value reaches €57m and due to the implementation of them all 1,700 new jobs can be created.

According to deputy minister Grażyna Henclewska, industries listed on the list of National Smart Specialization as health, bio-economy, renewable energy or innovation technologies can benefit the most in the new EU 2014-2020 budget. Also, it is expected that the role of cooperation between science and business will increase. New budget perspective will also deliver new repayable financial instruments instead of grants.

“The Ministry of Economy has introduced the system of the support for R&D industry in Poland for all projects implemented together by science and business. It will be financed due to OP Smart Development Programme; Knowledge, Education and Development as well as due to Regional OPs”, mentioned Ms Hanclewska.  Also creation of Clusters as science – business join venture will be supported.

Speaking of the most prospect trends of the development of R&D + I sector in Poland, the role of sectors supported the most by UE OPs should increase the most. Experts also forecast that sector programmes supporting specific industries may be implemented that should lead to the concentration of support.

“Thanks to the UE money, the cooperation between centres of science and companies will be improved. Their join-ventures will get pubic aid. It is a unique chance for Polish economy to make an impressive progress in innovation that, until recently, was almost impossible”, commented PAIiIZ president Sławomir Majman.

Development of B&R+I industry in Poland significantly impacts on the global expansion of Polish companies. Entrepreneurs who are planning to enter foreign markets can get public aid for the support of expansion strategy development or creating promotional campaigns.  Also due to the raising role of the competitiveness of Polish companies abroad, protection of intellectual property rights will get more importance.

“We are approaching a new chapter – a time of great chances for those who invest in R&D. In the incoming years the support for R&D+I will be 10 times bigger that in the past EU 2007-2013 budget. To get the chance to use it one should understand the rules of sharing the public aid. It is also important to know how to evaluate our own innovation ideas and thus to estimate our chances to get the support”, argued   Michał Gwizda, Partner in Crido Taxand.  “R&D Market in Poland – support for research and development activity of enterprises” report prepared by Crido Taxand and PAIiIZ will be presented. National Centre for Research and Development took the patronage over the event.
