Dąbrowa Górnicza
Human Resources
The city's asset is its young and well-educated population of over 120,000, 62% of whom are of working age.
The City Hall, together with economic organisations and entrepreneurs, makes a number of efforts to adapt the education courses to the needs of the labour market. During the workshops and conferences, opinions and ideas concerning the requirements of the labour market and adapting education profiles to them are exchanged. The fruit of these activities are new fields of study in upper secondary schools, which educate for the needs of the work establishments operating in the city, and school contracts with entrepreneurs preparing students for future careers as part of their internships. Undertakings of this kind translate into reduced unemployment and allow young people to plan their professional development paths better. In this way, Dąbrowa becomes a professional resource of thoroughly and professionally prepared staff for entrepreneurs.
Dąbrowa Górnicza hosts national events such as Entrepreneurship Day and World Entrepreneurship Week. The active involvement, commitment and cooperation of the local government and business allow school children to learn about the specificity of work in companies of Dąbrowa Górnicza during their internships, lectures and presentations. Thanks to this, young people gain knowledge of what competences and skills are required in individual companies, they also verify their ideas about the functioning of various industries and market sectors. More and more companies and schools are gradually joining this innovative enterprise.
